Windsor's Paul Sparkes Named July 2009 Ontario Coach of the Month! |
Paul has been coaching soccer for the FC National Soccer Club for 14 years. He was introduced to coaching when his father coached the FC national soccer team when he was a young boy. Since then Paul has admired coaching and has coached elite soccer players in the FC National Soccer League from ages 7 to 13. In addition to that team he is also coaching two other teams for the Caboto Soccer Club. Aside from coaching Paul is also a president at the Windsor United Youth Soccer Cub in Windsor, and he is officially on the Board of ECSA. Paul is also the ref assigner for all soccer leagues and games played in Windsor. In the past he was the assistant coach for the St Clair College Woman’s soccer team from 2002 - 2008.
Paul has always played soccer at the top level for years and always had great coaches. He felt that after all those years of receiving great coaches that it was time to give back. Paul stated that, “Their is no better thrill than helping children have fun, and learn every day life skills”.
Paul’s greatest achievements to date would include taking his younger team to the Italy Cup in 2007 where they competed against the best in Europe in a higher age group. They competed with great pride and learned a new culture. Paul is very proud to see that the boys he coaches can juggle their intense soccer schedule with a tough school schedule and maintain great marks as well as great results on the soccer field. DISCIPLINE CARRY-OVER: |
Teams are reminded that any players who have not completed serving their suspensions from last year, must do so this year. The teams must contact the ECSA Discipline committee and inform them if any of the new and/or old players belong in this category. By contacting the ECSA, they will be able to allocate games that the players need to sit out for in 2009 season. Failure to report these names to the ECSA Discipline Committee could result in no games being assigned to the player in question. Thus, the player in question will be considered as an “ineligible” player for those games, and both the team coach and the player could be charged with further discipline.
A list of suspended from 2008 can be found on this website. Some of the suspension may already appear on the list of 2009 suspensions. |

2009 SEASON SCHEDULES --- IMPORTANT!! |
Schedules for all age groups are now available online under the "Schedules" page.
Please note that due to City of Windsor strike, some games have no field and/or kick-off time. These will be announced within few weeks. Thus, it is important that you keep checking the website on regular basis for any new changes and updates!
As mentioned at the coaches' meeting, the schedules handed out at that meeting were only DRAFT schedules. Schedules listed on the website are the OFFICIAL schedules. Team coaches and managers should use information provided on these schedules to complete the game sheets, and not the information provided to them at the coaches' meeting!
Please note that some games in U17/18 Boys, U10 Boys, and U12/13 Girls divisions will indicate 50/50 before the Field Name. This indicated that the referee fees are to be paid 50/50 between the 2 teams, while the home team is still responsible for the game balls and the corner flags.
